3/24/09 updated 3/29 -- I've updated with all the last minute names (I'll tell Lucy to have another look) and a few mistakes that folks pointed out to me.  I think I had someone living in a town in France that doesn't exist!  It was a great idea, Twink.  Now let's see what we can do for the rest of the year -- and the rest of our lives.  Gotta save Mother Earth.  It's the only planet we've got!

TO HONOR LUCY'S BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY

So, we're less than a week away from both events, why not do something that honors a request she made in January, and participate in an event that puts Mother Earth first?

This Saturday, March 28th is Earth Hour.

What earth hour is, is a worldwide effort to give mother nature a breather. How do you take part? Simple, at 8:30pm your time simply cut off any un-necessary uses of electricity in your home, for ONE HOUR. Things like the refrigerator are exempt. But think of what you
can turn off. The TV, the computer, any lights that are just on so that your house isn't "in the dark". It's not difficult.

For those in Australia, you're a bit ahead of the rest of us, as this idea started there in 2007. That year, an amazing 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008, it went global, with an astounding 50 million people switching off their lights.

Before you say that there wont be that many people doing it, consider this. The following are all going dark in participation.

-The Broadway Theatre District
-The Crysler Building In NYC
-The Space Needle In Seattle, WA
-The Golden Gate Bridge
-The Strip In Las Vegas
-Los Angeles
-and dozens more key US Cities

...and this is JUST in the US!!! There are dozens more places who are on board worldwide!
